What if the housing I select is several blocks from the Convention Center and Arena—how will I get around?
There’s free subway transportation and free buses in the downtown area. You will receive information when you check in to your hotel.

Is there dorm housing?
We regret to inform you that our contract with the dorm did not materialize in a self-supporting, financially feasible manner.  As a result we are not able to offer dormitory housing as an option for the 2008 International Convention.

We want to remind you that all hotels are downtown and are accessible and convenient to the David L. Lawrence Convention Center and the Mellon Arena where we will hold workshops and big meetings.  We encourage those members who were interested in dorm housing to consider reserving a room with one of the eight hotels listed on the Housing Form.

If I mail my forms to RCS, 2368 Eastman Ave., Suite 11, Ventura, CA 93003, can I combine my Registration fee and Housing deposit by sending one check?
No, these are separate transactions. Combining registration and housing payments will delay the Registration and Housing process because the Housing Bureau will return your check.

What method of payment can I use?
Registration:  Members can write a check or use their credit/debit card.

Why do I have to pay to attend? I thought Al-Anon was free.
There are Al-Anon meetings in the Pittsburgh area throughout the weekend that are open to everyone. However, the International Convention is a paid event. The registration fee helps to cover the expenses of the event, so that the Convention will be self-supporting.
Return to questions

Is housing included in the registration fee?
No. You will need to register first in order to make your housing reservations.
Return to questions

Will I get a better deal by circumventing the housing process?
You may. However, we ask members not to do this. Receiving credit for the room block will lower overall costs and make Al-Anon Family Groups more credible for future International Conventions. In order for Al-Anon Family Groups to receive credit toward the room block, we ask that you use the Housing Reservation section on the official form.

What are my options for transportation from the airport to my hotel?
The Pittsburgh International airport is 12 miles northwest of the city. Information boards and phones for hotel and ground transportation are located opposite the baggage carousels. After you get your luggage, proceed directly out the doors to curbside if you are taking commercial transportation or if you are being picked up by private car.
If you are renting a car, there are rental counters on the baggage claim level of the Landside Terminal.
